So i am finally finished with my exams officially. They went fine though i was much apprehensive of my training viva but it was not too bad . Alright my end terms are not the highlights of this post.
IPL – Indian premiere league or rather Indian pampered league with its slaps ,controversies ,tears, cheerleaders, bollywood stars, cold war between players & owner of teams, sacking of CEOs is finally over .
With around 200 million viewers & mind boggling average TRP around 6 which is much above most renowned soaps & reality shows, BCCI has been able to earn 3.5 billion from the very first season of the game .On the whole it was profitable venture though i would sympathies with Vijay Mallya & his royal challengers.
It gave a platform to players of domestic cricket to showcase their capabilities in their own backyard. It brought the international and regional players on common platform.like it was good to see Ishant sharma & Mohammad asif playing together and Shane Warne sharing his skills with young players of Rajasthan Royals who emerged as worthy winners too.
But this sporting extravaganza had some serious shortcomings . Now the loyalty of the fans is based on regions . It has destroyed the inherent qualities of one of the finest sports ,to name a few – patience, team spirit, fortitude . On the contrary the IPL format was too loud and even vulgar at times . It was lordly management which saw it through. As RickyPonting pointed that shortened version of the game might result in premature retirements. With the corporate czars ruining the very spirit of the game it is high time that BCCI takes mature stand and display the vision & farsightedness which it has rarely displayed.
